Overview
Classifications allow you to categorize users based on their activity or role. Having granular data associated with users, equipment, material, and entries make rules and reports more powerful. Having flexible data points gives you the ability to adjust to your needs and workflow.
Options
Classifications - This is an overall classification for your worker and tools. Only one of these classifications can be applied to a user, a piece of equipment, or a material. The classification is added through the user's details in the "Team" Module or in the equipment and material card. This is often a Department, Division, or Company.
Work Types - The work type is like the category of the actual work/task that was provided. Multiple work types could be used by a user in various time entries as they may do several activities in a day. However not every work type applies to all and like classification, a work type is added through the user's details in the "Team" tab.
Work types generally apply across labour, tools and material tracking to drive financial calculations at a higher level than cost-code.
An example would be "Groundwork" or "Scaffolding", which would have their own payable and billable rates, whether you use it for tools, people, or consumables.
Cost Codes - Cost codes can be easily visible from the time center table. Cost codes generally identify a specific cost. Cost-code is the most granular tracking point and is distributed by projects. They can also be distributed separately between time and item tracking. They will be driven by the cost-code list being used in your accounting software.
MANUAL WORKFLOW ONLY
Time Types - Time types would be calculated by SiteMax in a normal workflow. If you choose to display and select time type, you will be defining the time type by creating separate entries and selecting the appropriate time type (overtime, double-time, ...).
You can see the time type entries if you expand its details, or if you have the column visible in a custom report.
If you choose this manual workflow - do not set up a time calculation rule or your time type selected will be ignored.
Combine your options to create an Item
Time Type + Classification + Work Type + Cost Code = Item
Create your Overhead, Payable Items, and Billable Items in the time settings module. They are a rate or a coefficient that is applied by following the rules you create.
You can calculate the cost of Labour, Equipment, and Material, as well as billable, by specifying which items are associated with overhead, payable items, and billable items. You will get a clear picture of your profit by setting up these time calculations. View all items by creating a custom report.
